Another Sample Completed (well sort of)

Another day another sample.  Last night I finished adding the borders to a Devine Nine sample.  The focus fabric for this one is called “Eclectic” by Kings Road.  When the fabric arrived it spoke to me saying “make me into a Devine Nine”, so I did.  I’m usually not a fan of earth tones or fall fabrics but I really like this one.  It just may be a keeper.

Here’s the top, hanging sideways on my front patio fence.

Eclectic Binding The binding is all made and waiting patiently for the quilting to be completed.  This is a coordinating fabric from the same Kings Road line.

Simba

Finally but not least, this is what I’m putting on the back.  It’s an Alexander Henry fabric (can’t you tell), called “simba”.  I might just like the back as well if not better than the front.

So now this goes in the pile, waiting to be quilted next week (unless a quilt fairy comes along and magically quilts all my tops).  A girl can dream!

Hugs,

Robin

What's on My Design Wall

This is my newest sample of "Magnolia Lane". The picture shows it before the magic happens. Check back in the next couple of days to see how it changes and grows.

Another Week - Another Sample

As many of you know my life seems to consist of one quilt sample after another. The good news is the sample's sell patterns and kits. The bad news is that once we've sold all the kits, it's time to make another sample. This week I am making a new "Magnolia Lane" quilt sample. The last two samples I made are sold out but fortunately we were able to order more of the fabric used in the original "Magnolia Lane" so I get to take it out of retirement and show it again. Here's a picture of the original one.

How it's time to start my forth sample. I am using the following fabrics.

Looks pretty fun doesn't it? This fabric is Wildwood for Free Spirit, Westminster Fibers, Sophie's Garden. The fabric is cut out and hopefully I'll start sewing on it later today. This kit is available now and the original Magnolia Lane will be available shortly. Just email me if your interested.

Devine Nine Beach Umbrella Quilt Top

Today was a great day to sew. I started off squaring up all my wonky blocks from yesterday. I them arrange them, sewed them together and added a couple of borders. This is a quilt that I can usually make in a day but this time I manged to spread it over two. My husband thinks it's a great "girl" quilt.

Here's a picture of the completed top:

Here you can see a close-up of the quilt. I think the colors show much better in the close-up. Can you see the great striped inner border? I'm going to repeat it once again in the binding.

I picked up a great backing for it so now I need to piece it together and get everything ready to be quilted.
