Design Wall Monday–February 19, 2019

Here’s another little quilt from the retreat I recently attended in Carpinteria.  It was called “It Takes A Village” and was taught by Jean Impey and Freddy Moran.  This method really pushes me out of my comfort zone but I sooooooooooooooo loved it.

This one still needs to be quilted and bound but you get the idea.

I love her, I absolutely love her and I can’t wait to add the quilting.  I’m trying to decide what to make next in this style but I’m not sure but something will come to me.

In the mean time, I’m headed to Temecula with friends for another retreat.  I have “serious” stuff to work on while there but when I get home I’ll get back to this and get it quilted.

Enjoy,

Design Wall Monday–February 12, 2018

I am so inspired by the 3 days I spent with Freddy Moran and Jean Impey las week.  I showed a quilt a few days ago that was my first “It Takes a Village” quilt or as Jean named it “Freddy Way”.  My second quilt is now on my design wall and I’m planning on quilting it today.  It is a small birthday quilt that I will hang on my front door to celebrate birthday’s of our friends and family.

I think I’m getting spoiled when quilting these little fun quilts.  The idea is to use black thread and simply scribble all the edges and designs.  It is very fast and super easy.  However, it certainly doesn’t reinforce any of the technical, free motion, quilting skills I’ve been trying to improve.  You won’t find any nice and neat feathers, pebbles or chalked designs here, but boy is it fun.

Until next time,

Enjoy,

It Takes a Village

This last week I was fortunate to spend 3 full days sewing, creating and learning from Freddy Moran and Jean Impey.  What a joy!  I had an absolutely wonderful time.

The “Freddy Way” was to rough cut, rough sew, tear and whatever else to create wonderful works of art.  She says we are Quilters but we are also Fiber Artists.  Who knew????  Maybe there’s a little Fiber Artist in me.

Here’s my first effort.  I created and glued 3 little tops while at the retreat.  Today I quilted and added a facing to my 1st one.  It is now completely finished and ready to hang up somewhere, maybe my front door or I’ll look for an empty spot on one of my walls.

I love, love, love it.
