Design Wall Monday–July 18, 2016

While at a retreat in Las Vegas last week I managed to finally sew the rows together of a One Block Wonder that I started at last years retreat.

I still need to add a border to the top and bottom but at least it’s sewn together.  I originally made this to hang on the wall in my dining room but now I’m not sure.  It may end up on the back of sofa.  We’ll see once it’s finished.

OGQG Opportunity Basket

The OGQG quilt show is going to be here before I know it, July 29th and 30th.  Our friendship group is putting together one of the opportunity baskets that will be raffled.  Our theme is wine and cheese.  While reorganizing my quilt room I came across the perfect (at least I think it’s perfect) fabric for the outside of a recovered Walmart basket.  So guess what I did yesterday?

And the inside.

Hopefully once it’s filled with lots of goodies it will make the guild a nice amount of money.

Design Wall Monday–July 4, 2016

I wish you all have a very happy and safe 4th of July.  I am so very thankful that I am an American and can’t imagine living anywhere other than the great old USA.  God Bless America!

Here are just some of my patriotic wall hangings/front door quilts.

This one’s made using Edyta Sitar’s 8 pointed star and the turned on point the Mary Ellen Hopkins way.

This one, is very, very old and is extremely faded.   It used to hang on my front door but now lives in a basket.

This is a table runner that usually spends the month of July on my dining room table.  This was made using a simple stack and slash method with just three fabrics to make the stars.  I love the scrappy binding on it (it looks better in person).

As for the design wall, it’s currently my design table.  I’m getting ready to cut out the pieces to recover another Walmart basket.  This one will be used to hold items for an opportunity basket that my friendship group, the Wednesday Wacko’s, is putting together for the Orange Grove Quilters Guild Quilt Show later this month.

Out basket theme is wine and cheese so I think this is the perfect fabric for the outside.  I need to narrow down the inside fabrics.  These are just a few I’m auditioning.

A Small Wall Hanging

I finished this little 18” wall hanging quilt today.  It’s going to be donated for a raffle at the Quilters by the Sea quilt guild retreat in August.

IMG_2183 I think it turned out pretty cute.
