Design Wall Monday–January 12, 2014

I’m finishing up my first UFO of the year.  This is a quilt I made several years ago but never quite finished the binding.  I will be working on it today and tomorrow so that I can “report in” on my UFO challenge at guild this week.

Design Wall Monday–1/5/2015

My friendship group the Wednesday Wacko’s is getting ready to kick off our 2015 project.  We are each starting off the year by making one quilt block that will be the inspiration for blocks made throughout the year by the other Wacko’s.  We each decide what we would like, theme, design, size or whatever else, write a brief description, include the block and pass it to the next person in the rotation.

It took me a while to decide on my theme but finally came up with Wonky Houses with something on the block that represents the month it is made, like a snowman in the yard for January, a heart somewhere for February, a flag somewhere for July.  I started off by making my block represent December, notice the Santa Clause sticking his head out of the chimney.  It is now ready to pass to my friend Pam for her to make a block.

This should be a fun year, working on one block a month for one of my Wacko friends.

Happy New Year - 2015

Where in the world did 2014 go?  Well it’s behind me now and time to move forward.  Once again I am declaring this as the “Year of the UFO”.  The way it’s going, the next several years will continue to be the “Year of the UFO”.  But for now………….

2015 UFO

For now I’m finishing up a UFO from a few years ago.  It’s a Bonnie Hunter Scrappy Trip Around the World.  I started it in Las Vegas in 2012 or 2013.  It’s just about finished and only needs the hand sewing of the binding completed.  It’s my first UFO for 2015 that is due as part of a guild UFO challenge so it’s time to get out the needle and thread and finish it up.

Here is a picture of Molly giving it her seal of approval.  She doesn’t seem to mind that the binding isn’t finished but she’ll no doubt be upset when I make her get up so I can work on it.

I have a couple of short trips planned during January but hopefully in between I can get at at least some of the UFO’s logged and decisions made as to whether to keep them, finish them or pass them along.

If you’d like to join me in my “Year of the UFO” you’re more than welcome to use the graphic I made.

Enjoy,
