Back from the Quilter

Yesterday morning I finished adding borders to my Wonky Rail fence so I drove it out to one of my favorite long arm quilters, Vivs and Russ at Bear’s Quilt Shop.  Would you believe it, Vivs called me today to let me know it was done and ready to pickup.  So off I went and check it out.

I now need to add the binding but it’s close to being finished.

Here’s a close-up of the quilting.

A cute overall flower/daisy pattern.  I love this little quilt.  It was quick and easy but it’s really, really sweet.

Design Wall Monday–June 27, 2016

I’m slowly making more wonky rail fence blocks.

Each block finishes at 12” so it’s only 48” x 60” right now.  I need to decide if I want to add more blocks or maybe just add a border.  I don’t have a plan for it, I’m just having fun making the little rail fences.

I also made a small quilt to cover another Walmart basket.

Design Wall Monday–June 20, 2016

I belong to a friendship group that exchanges birthday blocks.  This is a block I made for my friend Marie.  She chose 9” basket blocks.  I hope she likes it.

I’m slowly progressing on my Wonky rail fence quilt that I’m making from a bunch of precut scraps that I have an over abundance of.

Design Wall Monday–6/13/16

I recently finished a quilt top that I started in a Bonnie Hunter class several years ago at Road to California.  Bonnie called it Texas Braid.  It’s now at the long arm quilter waiting to be quilted.

See all those logs?  Well, I had precut them way back then, and I now have a gazillion of them left over.  What on earth do I do with them?

IMG_7427

I started sewing them together into rail fences and then 4 patches.

IMG_7426

I’ve now surrounded the 4 patches to make them wonky, angled rail fence, four patches.  (Say that a few times fast.  Smile)

I’m really starting to like it.  Now I’m thinking it needs a little black and white, so I auditioned some sashing.

IMG_2163 (Edited) This one may be a little too busy but I like the idea.  Maybe a black and white polka dot.  In the mean time I’m having fun playing.

Design Wall Monday–June 6, 2016

Better late than never I guess.  I’ve been doing a little sewing but not as much as I’d like.  Here’s the first thing that I’m slowly working on.

IMG_7419

I need a total of 36 blocks so I’m 1/3 of the way there.

The other project that is high on my priority list is sewing/market baskets.  Here’s my latest little quilt that will become the outside of another basket.

IMG_7417

Hopefully I’ll get this quilted this week and then make the basket.  It has a very 40’s – 50’s look to it, don’t you think?.  It reminds me of my mother’s kitchen when I was growing up.

In the mean time………………..
