Today I taught a workshop and tomorrow night I will being doing a trunk show for the wonderful guilter’s of the San Fernando Valley Quilt Association.  Here’s a little glimpse of the workshop.

See all the blocks in the back?  This was taken before lunch and they were already making great progress, they were real little worker bees. 

As usual I was tired at the end of the day and looking forward to checking into my hotel, setting up my sewing machine, grabbing a bite to eat and simply relaxing.  Shortly after I got into my room I kept hearing helicopters overhead.  Well sure enough I turned on the news and found out there was a possible siting of Christopher Dorner at a Lowes just a few blocks away.  That was a few hours ago and those darn helicopters are still flying overhead.  Needless to say, I decided to just stay in my room, watch TV and work on sewing my hexagons.

A Nice Day with my Hubby

John and I headed to downtown Los Angeles for a wonderful day having lunch followed by this.

We had lunch at our favorite restaurant in China Town, Yang Chows. and had the special Slippery Shrimp and Lemon Chicken.  After a leisurely lunch we headed over to the Ahmanson to see the musical Backbeat.  It was extremely well done and of course the music was great. 

We’re now back home, the SUV is packed to the hilt with all my stuff for the workshop, lecture and some personal sewing time over the next few days.  I’ll be up bright and early and headed on my way early, early, early.

Packing for a Workshop and a Lecture

On Sunday I’ll be teaching a workshop for the San Fernando Valley Quilt Association (SFVQA.net), followed by a lecture at their guild meeting Monday night. 

Here’s part of my trunk show waiting to be stuffed into duffle bags.  

I’ll be teaching my “Magical 3D Star” on Sunday.

I’ll try to remember to take picture of the workshop so I can share with you.  It’s always fun to see what fabric everyone chooses.

My “Peeps”

Everyone needs “Peeps” and I am very blessed to have a wonderful group of “Peeps” and we’re known as the “Wednesday Wacko’s”.  We’ve been together for a bunch of years and we meet just about every Wednesday.  The first Wednesday of the month we have dinner out.  Tonight was our February dinner. 

This was our annual Christmas picture.  Rob (in the front row center) is our baby Wacko and she is moving to Missouri later this month.  Her entire family is here in Southern California so we know she’ll be back on a regular basis but it’s still sad.   She made each of us a going away gift. 

Isn’t that just about the cutest wine glass? 

Thank you Rob………..I already miss you.

Check One Off The List

It’s finally completely finished, binding and all. 

The front of the quilt is very happy, but check out the back. 

Don’t you just love it. 

From Ikea.  Almost 60” wide so I didn’t even have to piece the back.

Design Wall Monday–February 4, 2013

While digging around in my sewing room I came across this little table topper/wall hanging.  I made it several years ago in a square in a square workshop at my guild.  I think it’s time to layer it and practice some of my free motion quilting on it. 

You can see in the background the border for my Great Granny Square quilt, I think it mocking me.  I really need to get that darn thing finished.
