My friend Margie is one of my Wacko Friendship group friends. She is, without a doubt, one of the best applique artists I know. So although many of us have hand appliqued before, Margie has agreed to teach us the “Margie” way of hand applique and we start tonight.
She sent out our supply list yesterday so this morning I spent some time collecting my “stuff” and packing it up for tonight.
Here everything is all packed up in this cute basket my sister gave me and the contents.
My clover travel iron, all packed up and ready to go.
I didn’t have a cover for my iron so I found this potholder, folded it in half and stitched down one side and across the bottom. Wa-La! An iron cover. I also needed something to set it in while in use (it comes with a flimsy little stand) so I decided to use a kitchen spoon holder.
The other little gizmo you see in one of the pictures near the top is this.
It’s a cable cuff and I found it at Home Depot for about $1.00. I have several of them and use them to control my hairdryer and curling ironing cord. Not only is it around the cord but I also looped it through the loop on the potholder. It sure works for me.
Last but not least, my project I’m going to work on tonight.
I know, this project is designed for fusible applique but it’s small, has the fabrics with it and I believe can easily be used for hand applique by adding seam allowance. It will look cute hanging in my sewing room.
Enjoy,
I will be interested in how your class gos. Love the supplies all packed up in your basket.
