Design Wall Monday–April 23, 2018

Progress is slowly being made.

GGS 36 layout

This I believe is the final layout.  My Granddaughter Emily did the final juggling of blocks and put her stamp of approval on the arrangements.  Em is much better at it than me.  I will now be adding the sashing and start assembling the blocks.

In the mean time I made part of the borders.  Since this is a bed quilt and will have pillow shams, I will only be adding borders to 3 sides.

And who knew, you can make right angled braids and left angled braids.  For this quilt it works just fine but I really need to make an effort to pay attention.  It could make a difference in the future.

Next Monday I’ll be hanging out in the local mountains at Big Bear Lake, spending time with friends, sewing, visiting and eating like crazy.

Have a great week everyone…………………

Design Wall Monday–April 16, 2018

It’s been a while since I last posted a Design Wall Monday post but I’ve had a variety of excuses.  I was on vacation and then followed that with a retreat with my Wednesday Wacko Friendship group.

While at the retreat I worked on a project I call “Great Grammy Quilt”.  I will be teaching it in Las Vegas in July.

I have 28 blocks finished but I think I need 40 for this particular quilt.  Here are the 3 that are on my design wall in my sewing room and then a 2nd picture of some of them hanging on the wall at the retreat center in Temecula.

I need to keep plugging away.  I hope to have all the blocks made so that I can start adding the sashing, sew it together, add the borders and get it ready to be quilted.  NO PRESSURE AT ALL!!!!! Yikes!!!!!

Have a great week.

Enjoy,
