Simple Rails

Sometimes you just need to throw together a simple quilt that can be put together in a very short period of time.  Since Two Wacky Women specializes in one yard cuts of fabric this is the perfect solution.

Using just 3 – one yard cuts of fabric you can make a quilt that finishes 50” x 66”.  This is a great size for a charity quilt, kids quilt, teenager quilt or a picnic quilt.  You end up with just enough scraps so that you can make a scrappy binding if you want.

My partner Marilyn just finished making a “Simple Rails” and has posted it on her blog.  The pattern can be found at our Two Wacky Women website, look on the right side and click on Free Pattern to open the PDF.

Here’s a few I’ve made.

This quilt is being donated to the Long Beach VA Hospital through my local quilt guild. Here’s a close-up of the fabric.  It’s hard to see but the red has word from the United States Constitution on it.

This quilt is beautiful in person, unfortunately I don’t think the picture does is justice.  Maybe if you click on the picture it will enlarge and look better.  Here’s a close up but it still doesn’t look as good as it does in person.  We had this at a quilt show and the fabric flew out of the booth.

This is the first one I made and probably my favorite, but it’s still not quilted.
smile_embaressed Oh well, soon!

I love this fabric.  It’s going to be my very own picnic quilt (that is if I ever get it finished).

While visiting the TWW website, take some time and look around.  We have some wonderful retreats planned for 2010.

Enjoy,
