Retreat Projects

Today I want to share a few pictures taken at the Two Wacky Women retreat over the weekend.

Part of their welcome package was a pattern and kit to make a “Not Just Another Notepad”.  Yvonne Lee was the first to make hers.  If you look closely at the bottom right you will see that she used her sewing machine (Bernina I think) to embroider her name on it.  I’m going to steal this idea in the future.

This is Michelle Rosgen and she made her very first quilt top.  Michelle flew in from Maryland and we were thrilled to have her.

Here she is with her quilt.  It’s hard to see but she had this fabric that she loved and used it as a center medallion and then surrounded it with four patches she made using one of Billie Lauders technique.

Notice Michelle’s flip flops.  She’s originally from Southern California and grew up wearing flip flops so since it was snowy and cold in Maryland (where she lives now) she was determined to wear her flip flops even if it was cold and rainy over the weekend.

Here is Jerri Reed showing off her top that she also made using Billie’s method of making scrappy four patches.  Jerri has become one of our “regulars” and will be joining us again in October.  Yea!!!!!

Here’s my dear friend Caroline Finley showing off her “LLB”, Letty’s Little Bag that she made.  This was her first time installing the grommets and they came out perfect.

Arlene Millett needed a wedding quilt right away and decided to make a “Simple Rails”.  She was able to make this in between working on other projects.  She was thrilled to have it finished and ready to be quilted.  (There is a free pattern available, see the link on the right sidebar.)

Judi Smith recently won a “boat load” (over 600) fat quarters at her guilds auction.  This barely made a dent but here is what she did with some of them, once again using Billie’s method of making scrap four patches.

There were 24 of us at the retreat so this is just a small sampling of what was accomplished.  We had a lot of fun.

Next up, I’ll show you what I worked on and how we pack for a retreat like this.

Enjoy,
