Playing With Stripes - Part 1

The other day I was looking at a Hidden Wells quilt that I made a number of years ago for my daughter Shelli.  It’s usually on her bed at home but I borrow every once in a while to use as part of one of my lectures, so it’s currently in my possession.  I’m going to be making another one again this summer when I get together with a group of friends in Las Vegas.

Shelli Hidden Wells

This time I thought it might be fun to make it the lazy way by using a striped fabric.  I’ve purchased  four different stripes to play with,.

I’m playing with the top one first.  The stripe has a very wide repeat so it’s turning out different than a regular Hidden Wells, but it’s still interesting and has promise.

So far these are a few of the blocks I’ve made.

The two on the right are sewn together correctly while the two on the left look more like Kaleidoscope blocks (because I sewed them together backwards Sad smile.  I may take them apart and sew them back together and see how that works.  In the mean time I will continue to play and try some of the other stripes.

Enjoy,
