Design Wall Monday–April 23, 2012

I’ve finally been back to doing some sewing and I have some new things on my design wall.  Do I hear a Hallelujah?

You can see a few things going on here.  Upper left is the Swoon-ish block that I showed last week, here.  Then moving to the right is 4 blocks of my friend Frances’ ribbon blocks (more about that later).  The bottom is devoted to what I’m really suppose to be working on, Hunter’s Star.  I will be teaching Hunter’s Star at a retreat in Las Vegas this summer.  I’m in the process of working out the supply list (easier said then done) and working out the measurements for two different sizes.

Millennium Star Update

I managed to get a little sewing in yesterday. My Millennium Star is now sewn together and has found it's back up on my design wall. Now it's time to figure out the borders but I think it's going to have to wait until next week.

Now it's time to pack my suitcase. My friend Sue and I are headed to Kansas City and Spring Market first thing tomorrow morning. I'll try to check in from there. Until then..........

Enjoy,

Swoon Block

I’ve been seeing Swoon Quilts and blocks all over blog land so I figured I needed to give it a try.  The pattern is by Thimble Blossoms and is available from them here.   I’m pretty sure my block is made slightly different but it still looks pretty darn good.

Swoon Block

It’s a big block, 24 inches big.  The patterns has you make 9 blocks using different fabric for each block.  Once you add some sashing you end up with an 80 inch square quilt.  Not bad for only 9 blocks.  I’m not sure if I’ll make any more, but in the mean time, I like this one.

Sharon’s Easy Peasy

I love to get pictures of projects that people make using my patterns.  Sharon (from the Atlanta area) send me these.

Millennium Star and the Challenges of using my IPad

In preparation of an upcoming trip, I'm trying to remember how to post from my iPad. I've done it before and I'm sure I can do this but so far I've posted a blog post this morning but it showed up with a April 22 date, oops! So I'm going to try again and see if I can get this to work.

Yesterday I managed to find time to sew a little. I pieced together my Millennium Star and put it back up on my design wall. I now need to figure out the borders but that will probably have to wait until next week.

Tomorrow my friend Sue and I are getting on an airplane and heading to Kansas City and Spring Market. I know we'll have a great time and hopefully I'll be successful blogging about it. Until then.......

Enjoy,

Design Wall Monday–April 9, 2012

I still don’t seem to be getting much sewing done but at least my Granddaughter Emily is.  It’s spring break for her so she has a little time to sew.  This is a project that she’s making for her sister Natalia.

The pattern is my “Five, Ten, Twenty” and the fabric is from my stash.

She wouldn’t let me take a picture of her face while sewing, but she allowed me to take a picture of her hands.

This is the fabric that all the others were pulled to go with.

This is just the first 5 blocks with only 5 of the 20 fabrics showing.  It will be way more interesting once the other 15 fabrics are added to the mix.
