Almost Ready for Market

I’m tired but the end is in sight.  I made 5 Wacky Shopping Bags for one of my show specials.  Buy 12 patterns and get a free sample for your shop (while supply lasts).

I love this fabric and I think it makes the perfect shopping bag, don’t you?

I committed to making a Letty’s Bag for Clothworks.  I had enough fabric to make 2, 1 for them and 1 for me.  I  made mine the slightly smaller version.

They still need buttons and their bottom insert to help them hold their shape but they’re done.  By the way if you own a Letty’s Bag pattern and would like me to email you the supplement for the slightly smaller bag measurement just leave me a message and I’ll send it to you in a PDF.

I still have to put binding on two quilts but that’s the last of the sewing.

Tomorrow is my husband John’s Birthday and of course Mother’s Day so we have a boat load of people showing up for hamburgers and hot dogs.  Little do they know, they have to work for their dinner.  I still have a bunch of pattern folding, stuffing and sticker applying that needs to be accomplished.  Thank goodness they’re good sports and I know will be happy to help.

Enjoy,

100 Blocks Blog Tour–Day 5–May 6, 2011

I am thrilled to welcome you to my blog as part of the Quiltmaker 100 Blocks Blog Tour.   As part of the tour, you have an opportunity to win one of two magazines that will be given away to two of my readers.   Here’s the cover of the magazine with just a taste of what is inside.

QMMS-110058-COVER_2002

My block is #271, Royal Star and can be found of page 61.  The original block was made using a dark purple batik with a light pink batik background.   When I went to make the entire quilt I switched to a dark blue/green batik with a light green batik for the background.

Although I love the block by itself, when it is set on-point it takes on an entirely different look.  My quilt is included in the Designer Gallery of the magazine on page 18.

Can you find the block?   If you’re going to be a Spring Market in Salt Lake City stop by my booth #2446 to see it in person.

So how do you win one of the magazines?  First, simply leave me a comment and you’ll be entered to win.  If you become, or already are, a follower of my blog, let me know in your comment and you’ll have a second chance to win.  Remember, it’s really important that I have a way of getting ahold of you so if you show up as anonymous……..sorry, but you can’t win.  I will pick and announce the winner on Sunday night.

This is the final day of the Blog Tour, please take the time to visit the other blogs to see and read about their blocks.  Head on over to Quiltmaker to follow the other links.  The magazine will be available in stores May 10, 2011.  Check it out, you won’t be disappointed, there are 100 fabulous blocks.

Trunk Show Thursday–May 5, 2011

Tomorrow is my day for Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks Blog Tour, so please come back for a visit then.  In the meantime I thought I’d give you a sneak peak of my quilt made from my block and is shown in the magazine.

It’s currently (and in the magazine) called Royal Star.  I think at the time, I was under time pressure to come up with a name and this was the best I could do Embarrassed smile.   By the time I actually put this out in pattern form it will probably change.

Another Set of Spring Market Samples

It’s getting closer and closer.  I can almost see the end in sight.

I spent the morning teaching a class at Leisure World for some members of their quilt guild and this afternoon I’m back working on Spring Market Samples.  This time I’m making Wacky Shopping Bags.   I had planned on using fabric from my stash but I couldn’t help myself when I saw this fabric, Paris Pups by Michael Miller.  I think it’s going to make perfect shopping bags and will help to promote the pattern.

As you can see, it’s going to have a black lining and black straps.

Now back to the sewing machine.  Flirt male

More Samples for Market

One of the patterns I will be featuring is my Tote-Along.  It is a tote that fold up and tucks inside your purse.  I have made some samples so that I can offer a free sample with a minimum purchase.  The idea is that a store can start selling the pattern right away without having to  make a sample when they get home.

I tucked a piece of paper in the pocket so that you can see it.

Another Step Closer to Spring Market

I finished ten “Click-it” bags this morning.  One of the specials I’ll be offering at Market is, if a customer buys 12 “Click-it” patterns they get a free sample for their shop.  That way they will be all ready to go when they return home and not have to make their own sample.
