Bag Tag

Ssssh, don’t tell my daughter but I made her a new bag tag.

For whatever reason my daughter, Shelli, is a huge Elvis fan.  One of her life long dreams has been to visit Graceland.  This year for her birthday I gave her a trip for the two of us to visit Memphis and do all the touristy things all centered around Elvis.  Our trip is planned for just a little over a month from now so I decided to make her an Elvis bag tag for her suitcase.  I think she’s going to love it.

Very Slow Progress

I haven’t managed to sew a single stitch over the last week.  My excuse(s)?  It’s been very hot and humid here in Southern California, I’ve been busy doing some fall (spring) cleaning and I’ve been distracted working on plans for John and my upcoming vacation.

Since I posted last, I have managed to add sashing to my Great Granny Square Quilt blocks and have started sewing the blocks together.  I will then need to add a narrow 1st border of the gray followed by a wider border that will use some of my extra 2 1/2” squares.  With my vacation starting just over a week from now, I’m hoping to maybe get this quilt top together, we’ll see.

I know I’m going to love it once it finished.  To see what other’s have on their design walls, head on over to Judy’s Patchwork Times Blog

Design Wall Monday–September 10, 2012

Sadly my design wall has nothing on it this morning but this is sitting there waiting for me.

That’s my 49 Great Granny Blocks waiting the the sashing (see plastic bags) to be sewn on.  It’s been very hot and humid here so sewing in my very hot sewing room has been temporarily put on hold.

She Made Me Do It!

Really, it’s not my fault.  My daughter-in-law Maureen is in Southern California visiting and yesterday she came by for a visit.  While driving her back to her Mom’s house she got a phone call.  It was her Mom (who doesn’t like to go fabric shopping) telling her that Tuesday Morning had fabric for sale.  So what was I to do?  Since her own Mother wouldn’t take her fabric shopping, it fell on me.  Well, sure enough Tuesday Morning did have precuts of fabric and sure enough we both bought some.  Just what I need, more fabric.

Guess how much I spent?

That last tower of fat quarters has 25 or 26 different pieces in it.  The grand total?  $39.96.  Can you blame me?  BTW most (or all) of these are Westminster fabrics.  Not too bad, even if I didn’t need any more fabric.

Design Wall Monday–September 3, 2012

I can’t believe it’s September.  Where in the world did the summer go?  Oh well it’s onward and forward.

On my design wall this Labor Day morning is a quilt made by my daughter Shelli.  This is a gift for a friend of hers that just had a baby.  These are the colors of the new baby girls bedroom.  Not a typically baby quilt but a quilt that she will grow into.

Wacky Devine 9

My granddaughter Emily selected the fabrics and Shelli did the sewing.  It is basically my Wacky Devine Nine pattern but without borders.  It will finish about 49” x 61”, not too big but not too little, hopefully just right.   The backing still needs to be found and then it will be quilted by Emily.

Hope you had a great 3 day weekend.
